Individual Therapy
Individual therapy is an opportunity to make sense of your experiences with someone who's in your corner. Together, we'll explore how your thoughts, emotions, relationships, and life experiences shape the present and discover practical tools to help you move forward.
Couples Therapy
Relationships can be one of our greatest sources of connection—and one of our greatest challenges. Couples therapy provides a space to strengthen communication, deepen understanding, navigate conflict, and build a healthier relationship together.
15-Minute Consultation
Finding the right therapist is an important decision. A complimentary 15-minute consultation gives us a chance to meet, discuss what brings you to therapy, answer your questions, and see whether we're a good fit before scheduling a full session.
It all starts with a simple hello.
Hi, I’m Shirin
Hi, I’m Shirin. My pronouns are she/her, and I’m so grateful to have crossed your path.
I'm the owner of Soundview Therapy and a mental health associate clinician (Licensed Social Worker Associate–Independent Clinical, or LSWAIC) in Washington State.
I believe quality mental health care should be accessible, equitable, and grounded in respect for every person's dignity. Those principles, reflected in the NASW Code of Ethics, continue to guide my work as a therapist.
My graduate training focused on mental health and trauma, and I work collaboratively with clients experiencing anxiety, life transitions, relationship challenges, obsessive-compulsive symptoms, and the lasting effects of traumatic experiences.
My approach is warm, curious, and practical—we'll work together to better understand what's happening, identify meaningful goals, and build skills that support lasting change.
I continue to pursue professional insight in evidence-informed trauma treatment so I can provide thoughtful, current, and compassionate care.
I'd love to tell you more about my background, my approach to therapy, and what you can expect when we work together.

Many things in life are mysterious.
Therapy doesn’t need to be one of them.
Here are a few general questions to make your journey easier.
Before
We Meet
-
The 15-minute consult is a way for you and I to see if we’re a good fit. I’ll ask you some logistical questions like when you’re looking to schedule your appointments, and if you’ll be using insurance or plan to pay out-of-pocket. I will also share what my approach is, so you can ultimately decide if we’re a fit. You don’t have to schedule a 15-minute consult. We can coordinate over email in setting a meeting if you’re looking to get started right away.
-
That’s completely fine. Sometimes the best place to start is to talk about the day, and we can branch out there through questions I can ask you.
-
While applications like Zoom and Google Meets may be familiar, I have ensured that the versions of these tools I am using keep all of your data private in compliance with healthcare standards.
Vulnerable
Questions
-
Everyone has a past. Regrets are a human part of life, and many people carry guilt about things they've done or wish they had handled differently. Therapy is a place to explore those experiences without judgment.
Your privacy is important, and what you share in therapy is generally confidential. There are a few legal and ethical exceptions to confidentiality, including situations involving concerns about the safety of a child or vulnerable adult, or when there is an immediate risk of serious harm. If a situation arises where I may be legally required to make a report, I will discuss it with you whenever it is safe and appropriate to do so.
-
Not usually — it depends on many different factors. We call the police when there is an immediate threat to life.
Many people have passive thoughts like not wanting to wake up, while others have more intense urges or plans. I will talk with you about what help can look like depending on the intensity of your situation.
Sometimes it’s continued therapy and developing a personalized safety plan, sometimes it’s calling crisis responders, and sometimes it requires calling 911.
-
Therapy is not easy work, but it doesn’t have to be painful either. It’s common for symptoms to feel worse when talking about trauma, but that’s why its important to learn grounding skills first, so that you remain in control while you grow.
Practical
Questions
-
There are many insurance companies I accept including (but not limited to):
Aetna
Cigna
Kaiser Permanente
First Choice Health
Premera BlueShield
Regence BlueCross
Tricare
United Behavioral Health
-
Writing letters of accommodation is a possibility. Ultimately, I want to empower you with the tools and insights you need to receive equitable access, and find the best long-term solutions for you.
-
You only need a working internet connection and access to join a virtual meeting. I operate with Google Meets, Carepatron EHR, and/or Zoom, and you do not need a license to any of those in order to access them.
Working
Together
-
You should consider what traits in a therapist are important to you. Here are some questions to help you get started:
Do I feel comfortable with them
Do I feel like they would be accepting of me?
Do I want them to have night and weekend availability?
Do I want them to have a certain certification (like EMDR)
Does it seem like they really hear you and care?
-
Initial intake appointments are typically scheduled for 60–90 minutes to allow enough time to get to know you and understand what brings you to therapy.
Ongoing therapy sessions are generally scheduled for 60 minutes. Some sessions may end a little earlier if we've reached a natural stopping point for the day.
On rare occasions, a client may experience an urgent situation that requires additional time. If this happens and it affects the start time of your appointment, I will make every effort to notify you as soon as possible.
-
Yes. You are free to discontinue therapy at any time.
If you decide to end therapy, I encourage you to let me know so we can discuss your decision, answer any remaining questions, and help ensure you have the support you need moving forward. If you feel another therapist may be a better fit, I'm also happy to spend a session helping you identify what you're looking for and discussing possible next steps.
Please note that any appointments cancelled after the cancellation deadline will be subject to the cancellation policy outlined in your intake paperwork.
